Norton Firewall/Internet Security 2003/2004

If you have Norton Firewall 2003/2004 (or Norton Internet Security 2003/2004) and cannot access the directories (ie, if it says fetching directory) or if you are having problems with receiving QMs/Calls and are receiving a message from Norton about the Transcout Trojan…
Please follow the steps below for setting up Norton to see if it resolves the issue for you.
1: Open Norton Firewall 2003/2004 (or Norton Internet Security 2003/2004)
2: In “Status & Alerts” click on “Personal Firewall”, then click on “Configure”
3: Make sure the Firewall slider is set to Medium or Low (medium should be fine)
4: In the “Program Control” area, remove the entry that you find for iCU2.
5: Start iCU2 and select yes or permit to any questions that appear related to iCU2.
Optional (if you are having issues with receiving calls/QMs):
6: In the “Advanced area”, click on “Trojan Horses Rules”. Scroll through the list until you find the rule for “TransScout” trojan and remove the entry.
This is not to say that iCU2 has a trojan. The problem is that iCU2 by default listens on TCP 2000 for Calls and QM’s. The hacker that created the TransScout trojan made his trojan listen on the same port. So, Norton gives false alarms when you receive calls and QM’s because it sees activity on that port. As long as you have an up to date virus scanner, you have no reason to worry about being infected with the TransScout trojan as the virus scanner will remove it immediately, if anyone ever sends it to you.
