8: You now need to transfer the created .ic2 file to some sort of removable media (blank CD, zip disk, etc) or if you have networked computers, you can simply transfer the .ic2 file to your new computer.

7: Once the Backup has completed, a file will be created in your current iCU2 folder folder called “06-29-04.ic2″ – The numbers in the file name will change according to the date you created the backup.
8: You now need to transfer the created .ic2 files to some sort of removable media (blank CD, zip disk, etc) or if you have networked computers, you can simply transfer the .pals file to your new computer.
9: Once you have transferred the .ic2 file go to your new computer, (If you have not already installed iCU2, please visit www.iCU2.com/download.html and install the Trial Version of iCU2 to your new computer
10. Download and install the iCU2 Account Backup Tool (to your new computer) from: http://icu2.com/download/icu2backuputility.exe

Please note that this procedure does NOT transfer your saved messages. Only users with removable media or networked computers can achieve that.
Also, you may find that your pals are listed as UserIDs after doing the transfer. You can manually rename pals by right clicking on the Pal and choosing “Rename Pal” in the pal list.

You cannot use the exact same iCU2 on two computers.
ie.: if you transfer your iCU2 from one computer to another, you can only use 1 of them because both will have the same UserID. Doing this may cause problems with both of your iCU2s and may result in you being blocked from the iCU2 servers.

The registration code you have is valid for use on 1 computer at any given time. If you try to use it on more than 1 computer, you will receive “invalid registration code” warnings.

iCU2 has two options for rendering your video feed. They are:

Video For Windows (VFW)

Direct X

By default iCU2 will use Direct X to render your video feed, Mainly because Direct X is better at auto-detecting your camera and it’s settings. When using Direct X mode, you will get two options in Settings – Options – Video & Audio for the size of your camera (large or small).

All of your available cameras will be listed underneath “Send Video from this device”. You can select any cam and cam size that is shown.

The “Picture Size and Data Capture Format button” will not work in DirectX mode, as those settings are already decided for you.

The “Cam Adjustments” button will allow you to change color settings for your camera (saturation, brightness, etc).

In VFW mode, you have more control over your camera’s settings as you will be able to manually select the video’s size and also the video format it will use (in the Picture Size And Data Capture Format button). However, less cameras will work in VFW mode.

To switch between “VFW mode” and “DirectX mode”, follow these steps:

1: Select “Do Not Send Video”
2: Click on “Change to XXX mode” (XXX will either be VFW or DirectX depending on which mode you are currently in)
3: Select “Send Video From This Device”
4: Select your camera.

If you are in VFW mode, you may have to select “Microsoft WDM Image Capture” as your camera, then click on “Cam Adjustments”. From there, select the “Capture Source” tab and finally select your camera from the pull down menu.

This area lets you set up your webcam / video device for iCU2.

Don’t send video disables your camera on iCU2

Send video from this device enables the default camera / video device

If your camera is not listed in the pane, click on Cam Adjustments button, a new window will appear, select the “Capture Source” tab and then select your camera via the Pull down menu.

To change the image format (most cameras use 24 RGB) and image size, click on the Picture Size and Data Capture Format button. This option is only available when in VFW mode.

To change from VFW mode to DirectX Mode (and vice versa). Follow these steps:

1: Select “Don’t Send Video”
2: Click on “Change to xxx Mode”
3: Select “Send Video from this device”

By default Disable audio in real time contacts is not enabled. This means that you will be able to send audio in calls / connects (assuming that the other person does not have audio disabled).

If you do not use audio in connects often, it is advisable to disable audio in real time contacts as it should speed up the video speed slightly.

Even if Disable audio in real time contacts is enabled, you will still be able to send and receive audio in Quick Messages and in the Chat Lobbies.
